The men sat alone in the cockpit. Nobody spoke for more than an hour but it could have been days. Besides, units of time measurement based on the Earth’s orbit seemed pointless to them now. The four men’s minds went separately to places over 240,000 miles away and the people they loved there.
West cried when he saw the Earth come into view. He wondered what his tears would do if his helmet wasn’t on. Without gravity he supposed they might just well up on his eyeballs and float away in front of him.
There had been a small explosion earlier. It hadn’t been as loud as it would have been within the Earth’s atmosphere, but it was all the more terrifying. They couldn’t see the direct reason why, but the comms panel was now useless to them, so communication with the Earth was impossible. At least two of the men privately thought this a blessing in disguise, as they did not know what they would have said to their children, their wives, their parents. Continue reading
So I thought I’d post something about the spam comments I’ve been getting on my site recently. In fact, I thought I’d just post the spam I’ve been getting recently.
I’ve had everything from little rhyming poems and gold delivery details to disses and uplifting quotes, and of course plenty of vague encouragement, totally unlinked to anything I’ve ever posted about. The pidgin English whiffs of online translation tools. But you know what? I love them. So much that I’m not going to approve them. I’m just going to post them. So here we are, Polish wooden furniture companies, eyeshadow and cufflinks, Ghandi calling me indomitable and nude dancing: the best of my spam comments. Remember – keep an eye out for brussels.

The following time I read a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to read, however I actually thought youd have one thing interesting to say. CALM is the Campaign Against Living Miserably which tries to prevent male suicide in the UK – the biggest killer among men aged 18 – 34.
Chance UK (whom I volunteer for) for are a charity working with children aged 5 – 11 with behavioural difficulties, in order to stop them developing damaging behaviour in later life.
If you’re a boy aged 12 – 17 I’ve not left you out deliberately. Maybe you’ll like one of my stories.
I’m doing a ten minute talk on Time Travel at MVMNT cafe in Greenwich on Wednesday 6 Feb. Come along. There’s poetry and other nonsense from people like Dan Simpson, Josh Siegel and more. Come along, it’ll be fun.
